Alloy L605/25

A cobalt-chromium-nickel-tungsten superalloy, Alloy L605/25 is engineered for oxidation resistance, thermal stability and is one of the strongest cobalt alloys.

Characteristics of Alloy L605/25

Alloy L605/25, also known as L605 cobalt alloy or UNS R30605, is a high-strength, solid-solution strengthened superalloy. Designed for exceptional performance in oxidising and high-temperature environments, it combines cobalt, chromium, nickel, and tungsten to offer an outstanding balance of thermal stability, wear resistance, and mechanical strength.

Its resistance to scaling, oxidation (up to 1093°C), and sulphidation makes it a material of choice in aerospace and other thermally extreme sectors. In addition, it resists galling and abrasive wear, ensuring durability in mechanical assemblies and high-friction components.

  • Excellent oxidation and scaling resistance up to 1093°C
  • High strength retention across elevated temperatures
  • Superior wear, galling, and sulphidation resistance
  • Weldable using common fusion and resistance methods
  • Proven performance in aerospace and gas turbine applications
  • UNS Number: UNS R30605
  • Werkstoff Number: 2.4964
  • AMS: 5537, 5796
