Über Alloy 42

This material has been specifically manufactured for industrial applications where a low Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) is required. The constraints of the specifications limit the Sulphur and Phosphorus content of the material for increased weldability.

Features of Alloy 42 include:

  • Low expansion rate up to 300°C
  • Readily weldable
  • Easily Machined
  • Density: 8.11 g/cm³
  • Melting Point: 1435°C
  • Curie temperature: 0.5 J/g K
  • Thermal Conductivity at 20°C: 10.5 J/cm.s°C
  • Modulus of Elasticity at 20°C: 150 MPa
  • 30 – 300°C: 4.0 – 4.7 (10-6/°C)
  • 30 – 450°C: 6.7 – 7.4 (10-6/°C)
